Mayer Arts Dance Classes at the Maplewood Community Center

The mission of Mayer Arts is to not only provide training for those who are serious about learning, but also to offer classes that are tons of fun! We teach proper technique, terminology, body awareness, and appreciation for the arts. Our goal is that students will not only find a love for the arts but also build healthy habits and self-esteem. Skills that will be helpful to them for the rest of their lives!

 Spring Dance Recital - Follow Your Dreams
                               *Costumes are required for the recital for an extra fee.

For the recital, girls in ballet, tap/ballet, and tap/hip hop will need to provide their own white leotard (any style) and flesh colored tights. Boys need black pants.


PRE BALLET AND TAP (AGES 3-5)

This class includes the Wish Upon a Ballet curriculum with the added fun of tap! An introduction to the movements and vocabulary of these disciplines are taught with the help of musical instruments, parachutes, and scarves. Students will develop poise, strength, and flexibility. Ballet and tap shoes are required.

WISH UPON A BALLET (AGES 3-5)

SATURDAYS, FEBRUARY 10 - JUNE 2 (NO CLASS MARCH 24 & 31 AND MAY 26)
Wish Upon a Ballet is a dance program for children that incorporates popular children's stories as well as ballet stories to create a dance class that is more than ballet steps. Using musical instruments, parachutes, and scarves we will create a complete fairy tale experience while we skip, leap, jump, and spin. This way an introduction to the movements and vocabulary of ballet are taught in a fun and creative manner. Children will learn an appreciation of dance and music while developing strength and flexibility. Come join the fun! Girls and boys will need ballet shoes. Girls should wear a leotard and tights. Boys should wear comfortable clothes they can move around in.

BALLET AND TAP (AGES 6-9)
SATURDAYS, 11:45AM - 12:45PM 
SATURDAYS, FEBRUARY 10 - JUNE 2 (NO CLASS MARCH 24 & 31 AND MAY 26)

We can't stop the beat! Young dancers will float and leap in ballet and then jump and jive to fun songs while learning about tap. An introduction to the movements and vocabulary of these disciplines are taught with the help of musical instruments, parachutes, and scarves. Students will develop poise, strength, and flexibility. Ballet and tap shoes are required.

HIP HOP AND TAP (AGES 5-8)
MONDAYS, 6:00PM-7:00PM
FEBRUARY 12 - JUNE 4 (NO CLASS FEBRUARY 19, MARCH 26, & MAY 28)

Growing dancers will experience the upbeat and energetic style of hip hop as well as the exciting rhythms of tap. Proper terms for dance steps will be taught as well as body awareness to improve posture, strength, and flexibility. Students will gain poise and confidence as they leap and spin! Ballet and tap shoes are required.
  
BALLET AND TAP (AGES 8-12)
MONDAYS, 7:00PM-8:00PM
FEBRUARY 12 - JUNE 4 (NO CLASS FEBRUARY 19, MARCH 26, & MAY 28)

More jumps, more turns, more fun! Dynamic dancers will float and leap in ballet and jump and jive to fun songs while learning about tap. All levels are welcome to experience these disciplines in a fun and creative environment. Students will develop poise, strength, and flexibility. Ballet and tap shoes are required.
