Code Enforcement Procedure

Code Enforcement is an investment that pays off for a city and its citizens by helping to keep it vital. The enforcement of property maintenance and nuisance codes establishes a minimum standard for maintaining properties in Maplewood.

The primary goal is to obtain voluntary compliance with the provisions of the City Code by all citizens of Maplewood.

By doing so we will:
  • Contribute to the improvement and stabilization of our neighborhoods
  • Help promote a healthy and safe environment
  • Maintain a high quality of life in our community
  • Protect our property values
Having a Complaint?
Many people are not exactly sure what to do when they have a compliant regarding a possible violation.

The first thing you must do is talk with your neighbor or the property owner. Politely explain the situation and ask for their cooperation in resolving the problem.

If your "good neighbor" effort fails, fill out the online complaint form, call the complaint line at 651-249-CODE (2633), or by email at
