  2. Spring Clean Up

    April 21, 2018, 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM @ Aldrich Arena

    The Spring Clean Up provides Maplewood residents a way to dispose or recycle items that are not accepted in the regular trash service. Items accepted include appliances, electronics, bulky metals, tires, furniture (including mattresses), carpet, bicycles, household hazardous waste, and unused or unwanted prescription. Residents can bring sensitive documents (bank and credit card statements, medical records, etc.) and have the documents shredded for free. Residents are encouraged to bring a food or cash donation to support Second Harvest Heartland, a local food shelf.

  3. NESTING AND OVERWINTERING HABITAT FOR BEES

    April 21, 2018, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Nature Center

    Program is FULL. You can register online to be placed on waitlist. (ADULTS) The availability of nesting habitat is a critical yet often over-looked factor impacting native bee populations. This training will offer practical approaches to creating and managing a variety of nesting and overwintering habitat features for bees, including dead wood, stems, brush, rock piles, bare ground, leaf litter, and more. Approaches are relevant to gardeners, landscapers, natural resource professionals, and anyone interested in taking the next step in supporting pollinators. The training will include both classroom and field components, including a search for active nests of stem-nesting bees!
