The Maplewood Police Department has a long tradition of providing professional law enforcement and emergency medical services to those who visit, live, and work in Maplewood.
Sir Robert Peel, who founded the London Metropolitan Police, and is considered by some to be the father of modern policing, said, in part, "police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen." That statement offers a simple summary of what has become known as community policing. In order to be effective, police and citizen must work together toward a common goal.
The Police Department encourages everyone to be our eyes and ears. Please report activity you feel is suspicious. As partners, we can work together to make Maplewood a better place.
The Department has volunteer opportunities available for people of all ages. Volunteer your time and make an investment in your city.
